Calibrating the classroom to professional-grade standard

CTE teachers are experts in their fields, each bringing unique knowledge and experience to their programs. This work focuses on creating structures that allow that expertise to work together effectively without forcing uniformity. Rather than applying traditional PLC models that don’t fit CTE, Dr. Lisa Hill supports schools in building cross-functional teams designed specifically for CTE teachers. These teams provide a clear structure for collaboration, helping educators clarify shared expectations for student learning while preserving the individuality of each program. The result is purposeful collaboration, where teachers move beyond working in isolation to supporting one another in meaningful ways.
What this looks like in practice...
-
Structuring how and when CTE teachers come together to collaborate
-
Identifying how each program’s expertise contributes to the team
-
Defining how the team will use time and stay focused in meetings
-
Establishing ways for teachers to support one another across programs
